Juanita I. Harris is a native of Texarkana, Arkansas. She has over a decade of experience in the field of education. In 2006, Juanita graduated from Arkansas Senior High School. In active pursuit of furthering her education, Juanita graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, followed by a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. While in Texarkana, she has written grants and received financial support for her classroom project, "Everyday Economics: Earn Money, Spend Money, Learn Economics".
In 2013, she received the Early Career Award from Kappa Delta Pi in 2013. Continuous enhancements of her Everyday Economics program earned her the Bessie B. Moore Economics Educator Award in 2017. Also during that school year, Juanita was recognized as Union Elementary Campus Teacher of the Year.
In May of 2018, she was awarded Texarkana Arkansas School District's Teacher of the Year, which afforded her the opportunity to apply for the 2019 Arkansas Teacher of the Year award. Juanita was selected as 1 of the 14 regional finalists. As a finalist, she was recognized by Governor Asa Hutchinson and Arkansas Department of Education Commissioner, Johnny Key, at a special ceremony on August 16, 2018, at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.
Juanita is also founder and CEO of Teachers Support Teachers, a Benefit Corporation whose mission is to live out their vision of "Encouraging the Hearts that Shape the Minds". They do this by providing one opportunity per month for self care for Teachers and anyone in a PreK-12 setting that spends at least 85% of their instructional day with students.
Her passion for teaching does not stop in the classroom; she also tutors students in the district. She is an active member of Christ Nations Church in Texarkana, Texas where she serves as a Greeter. She is also a published author of a book entitled I Talk to God About You. 40 Days of Prayer for My Future Husband. The book is doing remarkably well and has sold almost 1,000 copies! Through it, God has taken Juanita from Arkansas to Anchorage, Alaska and many places in between. Juanita will continue to be a lifelong learner and an advocate for all children and educators alike.
Our organization and board of directors are comprised of educators, bankers, and community stakeholders who are invested in the welfare of our teachers. They bring experience, hardships, and first-hand insights as to what impacts our teachers most.
We are bringing awareness and encouragement to all school system frontline workers who are responsible for shaping young minds through our efforts.
It's simple. Our purpose is to serve our educators. To serve our purpose, we need partners who believe as we do in our teachers. Whether through donation, sponsorships, or volunteering, we need you. Our teachers need you now more than ever.
Your contribution will enable us to continue supporting teachers in our community, allowing us to provide the encouragement and resources they deserve.
